Nanowrimo Idea

November will soon be upon us. I have been trying to find a great idea for a novel this month. I am still working on my murder mystery, but I really want that to be published. Although I have been developing characters and writing about their past. That I have been sharing with you and more is coming.

But this idea is fresh for me and exciting. I have developed an outline for it. I have a character named Alice. She is divorced, raising kids, working at a menial job, trying to find true love, dealing with her parents, her ex, and keeping up with her friends.

Life is an adventure. It is what we make it so I am gonna put myself in Alice’s shoes and get that message to you. I don’t know if I will post it all daily, but I will write it daily.

What is your idea for our Novel Writing Month of November?

Let the creativity flow and let’s find adventure together. Maybe even Miss Nose will get some jinky on.

Working on details

When I was taking college English, the Professor asked us to break down our day. We could use a minute, an hour, a day, a week, or so on. But the idea was to break it down small and get those details in. He wanted us to first write a minute, then expand. Detail includes emotions, smells, sounds, color, and anything else to delight your senses.

It looks something like this:

It is morning time and I am going to make coffee in one minute or less.
1:01 I walk to the coffee pot
1:02 I open the lid on the back of the coffee maker
1:03 I pull out the coffee pot
1:04 I take the pot to the sink
1:05 I turn on the water
1:06 I put the pot under the running water
1:07 I fill the pot with water
1:08 I turn the water off
1:09 I take the pot to the maker
1:10 I pour the water in the back of the maker
1:11 I close the lid
1:12 I put the pot on the maker
1:13 I open the filler basket
1:14 I remove the basket
1:15 I take the basket to the sink
1:16 I rinse the basket
1:17 I take it back to the maker
1:18 I open the cupboard door while still holding the basket
1:19 I pull out the filters
1:20 I separate out a filter from the rest
1:21 I place it in the basket
1:22 I put the basket back in the filler
1:23 I pull the coffee out of the cupboard
1:24 I open the coffee and the smell from the grounds releases into the air putting a smile on my face
1:25 I grab the scoop
1:26 I fill it with coffee
1:27 I pour it into the basket
1:28 I scoop another from the coffee can
1:29 I pour it into the basket filter
1:30 I scoop another
1:31 I pour it in
1:32 I scoop another
1:33 I pour it in
1:34 I scoop another
1:35 I put it in
1:36 I scoop another scoop from the coffee can
1:37 I put it in the filter
1:38 I scoop the last scoop for the coffee pot
1:39 I put it in
1:40 I close the filler basket
1:41 I put the scoop back in the coffee can
1:42 I put the lid on the can
1:43 I push start on the coffee maker
1:44 I put the coffee can back in the cupboard
1:45 I put the filters back in the cupboard
1:46 I shut the cupboard door
1:47 I take a deep breath in smelling the aroma of the coffee

As you can see, you can get a lot more out of your stories by thinking about the details your character is going to be doing or facing step by step or second by second. Think of each step you take. Take time to listen to your heart beat as you take a step. If you can’t hear it, use a stethoscope.

Today, this is what I am working on for my stories. I am spending some time on the details. I want to make my stories pop and to do that, I have to remind myself that it is all in the detail. Now you can too!

Afternoon Coffee!

Time for us to sit down with a cup of Joe and update each other. I was sad yesterday to find out that all the pictures I took weren’t on my camera at all. Somehow they never got saved to the memory card. I had some great ones of bigfoot, pasties, Lake Superior, flowers, and so much more. It so breaks my heart. I took them so I could blog about stuff and then to find they were gone, well. I thought I could recreate them in paint by drawing what they looked like.

I am working on stories just at the moment we have a ton of clients to massage! Been at work some weeks seven days. This week I took 2 days off and my schedule is slowly filling to full. I stay longer at the spa to see if anyone calls in for that last-minute massage. Never know when a body is in need. As I sit and wait, I have been crocheting and writing as the day allows or if a spark of something happens in my head.

I have been taking pictures as I walk around Munising while waiting for people to call in. I run off for some lunch somewhere usually Johnny Dogs. If you are in Munising, I would so suggest Johnny Dogs! One thing about Johnny Dogs, they are packed so plan on a long line! My other favorite spot in Munising is the Falling Rock Cafe. A fellow Nancy owns this cafe. She has a ton of books for you to read, live entertainment some days/nights, and they make amazing sandwiches. If you are craving pizza, go to Pictured Rocks Pizza. Pizza is cooked in about 8 minutes and at a great price. The bread sticks are amazing as well. I eat pasties at Muldoon’s. I am not sure where else pasties are sold in town, but this is the place everyone goes to for pasties. I always get a traditional beef pasty. We do have a new coffee shop in Munising. It is called Fudge and Coffee.

I love Tuesdays for the farmer’s market at Lake Superior. Right by the water and several vendors with great food they have grown or they made as in soap, lotion, bread, cookies. I had pictures of that as well. So sad. While you are down there, get a pizza from the ladies at the pavilion. It is five dollars for a cheese only and the proceeds go to different charities like the girls softball team.  They always have a sign up to where money is being donated for that day.

It is a blessing to see you again. Let’s have coffee another day and catch up on all things going on in our lives.

Until the next time we meet, may your day be blessed with coffee prosperity!

It’s raining, it’s pouring, the old man is snoring

Yes, it has been raining cats and dogs here in da UP! It really need to get my ark finished. I have been working my little hands off at Our Perch in Munising. They have been too fatigued to write. They need a break from a long day as well. Been on facebook posting though. Short stuff like Hey, I have massage times available.  Which reminds me, here are some photos of my office. Soon I will be in the basement with a sauna. Yeah, try to get me out of that! I think all massages will be conducted within the sauna.

The other thing I have been doing is crocheting. I do a bit here and there to keep from chewing my nails. I decided to make stress balls that look like animals. Not the best as of yet but. If anyone has a better way to make an ear or help me with the eyes, I would be appreciative. Here is some of my latest work!

I have decided I am writing too many stories at once and I can’t remember half the time what is supposed to go where or what idea is suppose to be with what story. I am now going to focus on one at a time. I can still go back to my other stories, but I think it is better served if I just spend time getting one completed.

That’s the latest update from the swamp. I post pictures of the ark when I am done! I shall be around soon saving everyone from the rising waters.

Goodbye to McDonald’s Playland

Escanaba’s McDonald’s located at 503 North Lincoln Road is getting what they call a facelift. They are tearing out the playland area today as it rains upon the town. Even the weather is upset that McDonald’s won’t have a play area for the kiddos anymore. They are wanting more sitting room but have forgotten the only reason they need the sitting room is for the parents who have small children whose only reason for going to McDonald’s is the play area. It is a sad reality for many today as we watch the workers hauling the play equipment off to the garbage. I feel really bad for all the kids. It is a sad, sad day.

Some sad news in today and this is the stuff I usually stick on tumblr for conspiracies. There are political articles here too. Nice that Trump gave his salary to the Park Service! Never seen a President do that before. Another first from President Trump that I have never seen in my lifetime. Although, I still say down with Betsy but that is a Michigan thing. Some hate her here and others love her but to me, she knows nothing about education and is not qualified to do this job.

Oh the Places You Will Go, When You No Longer Read Facebook!

I finished Foxy except for the tail. I want to get some of that special yarn that will make it look more fluffy like a fox tail should. But he is finished! I found I didn’t need the pipe cleaner even though I used it. I could have just made a straight circle and put a couple of stitches in to bend it like a hook. Nice to know since everyone makes a candy cane with a pipe cleaner but I figured out a different way! YAY to the ME!

Here is the pirate Foxy laid out. He is pretty big.

Standing up on my computer keyboard, you can see he is taller than the monitor.

Here he is from another angle. Forgive all my yarn piled up.

I am super happy that my McDonald’s still has the shamrock mocha. Nice. By the way, they started taking out the play area today. Our McDonald’s is going down hill. I loved the play area as did many parents. It is a great place to take your kids to play and have some grown up time with your pals. The kids are entertained and you get some breathing time to have an adult conversation with actual people instead of a child. I shall get some photos of it for you. I am so disappointed. I am disgusted as well. The play area should always be at a McDonald’s.

I managed to get a bunch of orders done and I am working on some extras for selling. I have a unicorn I have to sew together. I sewed on the eyes and nose instead of using safety eyes. I figure this way, it can’t get into a baby’s throat.

Bunny Bowties
I love making these fancy rabbits. I sell them for $5.
Bunny Bowties
Here are only 3 of the many I have done. They are super cute. I like making them.

Enjoy the Foxy and Bunny photos. I will get some photos of the unicorns for another post. I still have to check the Facebook Beta app and see what is happening. Been busy today.  I will write again soon!

Hmmm I still need to check Facebook

I haven’t been on Facebook in days. I just check the message app and that is it lately. My hands are killing me. I have had several orders for bunnies. Which in the crochet world is a smash hit. I have been donating all my free time to crocheting. I am selling these small amigurumi rabbits for 5 dollars and I am still waiting for other animals to be ordered like the unicorn, elephant, and hopefully some chickens. I set a goal of making 10 of each and then having those sell first. I think if you are crocheting this is a good level goal to set and then when you do sell them, you get a bonus of buying more stuffing and yarn. I still can’t figure out how some people make a living at this but I am learning. I seemed to have found that niche in our area that is lacking. I see blankets, baby clothes, hats, gloves, scarves, cowls, and wash cloths all the time. I have even seen dick warmers. Not kidding you they are made for an erect penis but not for a normal one. I don’t know many guys who walk around with a hard on constantly. This is the one item I really shook my head at. Apparently, she made them as a joke. Which I am not sure she did or not, but ladies, you are aware of shrinkage right? She was marketing them as an everyday dick warmer. She wanted women to buy them for their man. I told all my friends about it and we laughed. We have all lived with men. We know this is not an everyday item and will only work when he is stimulated. Which means he can only use it for about 5 minutes at which time he is working if you get my drift? We all agreed she would have better chances if she made them to the right size and marketed them as ball warmers instead. You see, men will shrink up into something really small and it reminds me of a turtle head retreating into its shell. Plus, I swear most men aren’t much better than a turtle head when not in use. I only mention this since we are all looking for the right market in which to sell our items. What good is this if a man can’t use it because it is made for a time when he is sexually active and not for when he is just at rest. That is not an everyday wear item. It is a great gag gift but it isn’t something anyone will be able to use. This is what brought my attention to amigurumi style dolls and animals. No one is taking the time to really focus on this in my area. I have now created a demand since everyone has children or grandchildren. People have nieces and nephews, cousins, and there are children in this world somewhere. They can buy them from me and send them to their loved one anywhere in the world. I don’t see anything wrong in dick warmers but if I make them, they will be for everyday not for the other time of day if you get it that often.

Anywho, my hands hurt and I am trying to make enough critters for craft shows and steam and gas this September. I take my massage chair with me to all events. It was at events, that I started to really focus on my knitting and crocheting. There are times at events when you have no one to talk to. No one is at your booth and reading a book or crafting is great in making the time fly by when your booth is dead. I am working on getting the right forms to sell retail at the events as well. I know several companies that supply massage therapy products. Massage therapists asked these companies to create products they could sell at the office or events. It makes for a better income. You don’t always have massage clients daily. Cancellations happen as well. This is what leads us to other types of supply and demand products.

I have been reading news stories. I have some that I am going to post here. You all know why! In case this is your first blog post of mine I will tell you, I am writing my status updates for Facebook as a blog post. I am trying to make more use of my blog and Facebook statuses are getting in the way. It is too easy to write a short idea on the status post area. Besides, I really loathe Facebook. Thankfully there is an app for that! (that is a pun joke for those with no sense of humor) Anyway, on with the show, this is it:

One thing my Grandma always taught me was to keep up the fight. She always reminded me that she burned her bra so I wouldn’t have to listen to my husband. I didn’t have to live by rules and be personal property to a man. I could be who I wanted and do what I wanted because of her generation. Because of women in past generations, I am free from burdens that they had to endure. But she also told me to fight for anyone who needed my help. Just because it wasn’t my fight right now, didn’t mean it wouldn’t be in the future.  I am reminded daily of my Grandma’s rules in life. She had a code she lived by.  This article about Tina Fey reminded me of that. Grandma still speaks to me from beyond the grave.

It was a brutal killing that shocked Afghanistan. Now, the outrage has faded.

Another tid bit from Grandma is this, power corrupts. I don’t care who you are, you get a bit of power and it goes to your head. You think you are invincible. You think you can do anything. This leads to you never wanting to let go of that power. This is why I think we need a better way of electing government officials.

Democrats have a new and surprising weapon on Capitol Hill: Power

Things to add to my prayer lists. Grandma always told me to pray. No matter what religion you are, prayer works. It sets you in the frame of mind you need. Only, I use different words than negative. I use peace, love, healthy, wealthy, safe, alive, and so many more. Today, I hope you join me in praying for more positive ideals like financial freedom, great weather, and peace on Earth. Time to smudge some sage and sing songs of gratitude while remembering to be humble.

Today’s News off the Facebook Grid

I see so much on facebook and online.

For the next President, I have some advice. Focus on healthcare and foreign policy.  I would really love it if the next person running for President would give everyone a civics lesson. You see the President isn’t all that powerful or great. Why everyone gets so obsessed with this, I have no idea. The real power is in Congress. The President and Supreme Court are there to balance Congress so they don’t get to uppity. The President really is only in charge of very little. The President is Commander-in-Chief of the Military. The President is the face of the U.S.A in foreign negotiations and treaties. The President is usually the tie breaker when Congress can’t really decide but Congress can over turn anything on 2/3 votes. Congress is really who I look at when voting. I could care less who the President is, but I sure don’t want some dope in on a Congressional seat. The President can suggest budget cuts or increases, but Congress is the one making the budget. I would really love the next candidates for President to go out there and tell Americans what this office really does. I want to see them talk about how they will handle these aspects of the job and not play games. I want to see them to have daily meetings with Congress. I want to see all Americans vote in a Congress that will fulfill anything a President wants to accomplish on the campaign tour. We need our governments to work together meaning State and Federal/National. I believe we should be like Mexico and everyone fulfill their civic duty and when done, no more civic duties for you. This should never be a career. You should be dragged kicking and screaming to the office.

The other piece of advice I have for future Presidents, get this country in line for some technologies we pay for with taxes only. Let me give you an example, Tesla created the first WIFI system. Tesla had been given money from J.P. Morgan (a.k.a Chase banks) and made these towers that emitted electricity freely. All you had to do was build a tower and electricity went to any home without wires.  J.P. Morgan made him take it down because it was free and no one could make money from it. The government wants you to pay for stuff you should never have to pay for. I can see giving a bit of tax dollars to keep the towers maintained but do we need electric companies? Not when we have Tesla! I get we are all a capitalist society but still, let’s do somethings to help our citizens before we start paying a million dollars for a car. I am totally for off grid utilities. I think everyone should have their own well and septic system. I just don’t see why we should have to pay out the nose for services that the government thinks we need like electricity. For centuries people didn’t have electricity and they survived. There are alternatives out there. More and more people are wanting to live more freely and take up less space. To me, this is great for wild life. We have taken too much from other beings. Time we all give back!

In other news, I have read some interesting news articles today. I miss the days of great journalism. Today, I don’t see anyone making the news and showing us what is behind the scenes. Journalists took down Nixon and then somewhere between the 70s and now, they have lost the ability to take on something, some cause, and really expose it. Where are the undercover journalists? Where are the Fox Mulders of news? Where are the nosy SOBs willing to risk it all for the best damn story in the world? They are lost in time and space, I am afraid. Here are some stories for you. Not the best but pretty good by today’s standard of not getting the whole story or as Paul Harvey would have said, “the rest of the story”!

I created more for Foxy as well. I just need to go to the dollar store for some pipe cleaners so I can create his hook and I want to look for some different yarn for his tail. I was thinking the fake fur yarn for it. I have a portion of his arm with the hook already done. I am just exploring options on the tail.

I had to run to the store for more coffee today after running out. Good thing for me I have tea available. My Grandma taught me to let black tea steep for quite a while. It thickens up to be like coffee then. I keep it around for emergencies or for when I really don’t want coffee. I have Earl Grey as well. I really love Earl Grey. I keep bergamot around for when I am out. I add 1 drop to my tea cup and that makes Earl Grey. All you need is black tea and bergamot.

I have to go to the store for cardamom as well. I am out. I want to make cinnamon bread but I need cardamom for it.  I don’t know if any of you use it, but being of Finnish descent, I do.

Back to writing for now. I will write to you all later!

Another Day Away From Facebook

Yesterday, I didn’t get a chance to post anything. It was the last day of school for my girls as in they are now on SPRING BREAK!

I did find some very interesting news on facebook today. I am just staying away from writing my status reports there but not completely away. I need to know what my friends and family are doing.

Now I just focus on work for a week and hopefully, getting some direction on these Miss Nose stories. I have a new portion brewing for the Paranormal, Miss Nose and I am working on three more stories for her, my novel, and some articles for my other blog. I am working on some crime essays dealing with forensics as well. I am drinking weak coffee at the moment since I am so out of coffee and in dire need of going to the store. But it is spring break and I am being lazy. Maybe if I remember, I will get to the store and buy some.

I am writing the Reiki and health articles for my blog KWP Money Reiki. I am going to post all those massage articles there. Any nutrition or aromatherapy I write about will go there. I am trying to make those articles really shine. They have to be great. I want them posted well enough that I can put them in the spa’s newsletter for my clients. It means a ton of research and even asking my clients questions about their experiences. I am offering meditation classes now as well as teaching couples how to massage one another.

I have a few crime articles I am researching. I have been really looking at all the Nicole Brown Simpson photos. Really interesting once you know forensics. You can see the mistakes the officers made that day without even knowing.  The other one I keep going back to is White Boy Rick. Why is this poor boy still in prison?

I am further on Foxy. I haven’t really researched to see if someone has a pattern for him so I have been making him on my own. He isn’t perfect. I am making his arms right now and his tail. That is what is left of him. I am still trying to figure out his hook. Maybe I can use pipe cleaner? I like to do my crocheting without added items but still. I could just make a candy cane and that would work. You see in amigurumi, you can make a strawberry with the same pattern as any other item like a ball or turtle. When I first start out any project the beginning always reminds me of a turtle shell.

Here are some pictures of my progress for you all.

I am thinking I need more for the feet but I am not really familiar with Foxy which makes me uncertain.

I need to get back to writing. I am looking for some freelance writing gigs as well. I love coffee and thought, hey I could write about coffee. I love crime and I can write about that too. I find it unfortunate that our newspapers are going away. They are being outsourced by the world wide web and television. I have a ton to do today. This means I gotta go! Write back soon.

Tuesday’s Nothing File of Nothingness

I really need to get my writing chops back flowing. I have been crocheting these little amigurumi characters instead of focusing on what I should be doing. I have been booking clients for massages instead of working on my three different Miss Nose stories. Oops sorry FOUR Miss Nose stories since I am writing one on here. I have decided to scrap the way I was writing my Ackerman Lake novel and now, I have created a new city in the UP called Ackerman Lake. It will still be the same but I am getting making one location area instead of several. I decided I am going to make this new town as a subdivision town that is being newly developed. They are clearing the woods as we speak. lol.

I have been looking at some freelance jobs to help get some extra cash. I really like one which is writing about coffee. You all know how much I enjoy my java, well, maybe not since this isn’t facebook. I am trying on a 30 day fast from facebook. I am thinking instead of writing facebook statuses, I will write them on my blog instead. This should be interesting.  No tweets either, just blog post in place of what would be a tweet or status update.  Not saying I won’t be sharing cute cat, coffee, and other stuff on those sites but I want to take that time and get it on my blog instead. I need to focus on this writing and most of my updates are about animals in my house like my new goat, Molly, or my funky crochet creatures.

Am I not the cutest thing you have seen all day?

IMG_20170312_125815
I created this cat and his mouse friend.

Right now I am designing and creating Foxy from FNAF (Five Nights At Freddy’s) for my daughter. I learned a ton about amigurumi from watching Japanese you tube videos and reading books. It really is a very simple method. You increase and decrease stitches and make shapes. If you can do simple shapes you can make these creatures and dolls. You need math skills though.

You start with a magic ring. Of this I am not kidding! You make a ring around your fingers and you start your chain there. When I first learned crocheting we were told to chain 4, slip stitch to make a circle and then to go in and out of that circle for 4, 6, 8, or how many other stitches we needed to start the pattern, but this magic ring takes away that chaining circle.

The thing about amigurumi is, you never leave a seam mark since you are working in a spiral. I really love this way of creating. I am so enjoying my time crocheting these creatures. I have been translating Japanese (thank you Google) and learning how to create dolls and separate the legs and arms. I am not good yet with arms but I am going to try legs with Foxy! I will of course post a picture of Foxy when I get him done. I am trying to find out which version she wants of him and since all of amigurumi follows the same basic patterns, you can make anything by knowing this. I have gotten so into this, I bought safety eyes and embroidery thread. I am learning how to make eyes with the Japanese girls help. Not easy peasy yet for me.

Here, I will post some pictures of what I have been working on lately.

My sisters and I had these stringbean rabbits when we were kids and I have been trying to recreate them with amigurumi. I figured out how to make bow ties as well.

One day, I will post how you increase and decrease. I have to get back to scheduling for work and looking for some extra cash employment endeavors. More status updates as I stay off facebook later.

Oh, Five Nights At Freddy’s is a game and storyboard background for those who don’t know.
