We took the lean to off the back of the house and used it to make a chicken coop. We used a bunch of old wood that is all over the backyard to make one wall and a door we had found by the fire pit so we can go into the coop to check for eggs. Once we get enough money together, we are building a better one. This may be a play house for the kids but we needed something. The back and sides of the lean to look a whole lot better than the front. But then it was a lean to on the back of my house before a chicken coop. We made them perches inside and they have straw to nest on. They don’t seem to want to come out of it either. We have been letting them run all over the yard all day except they want to be in the coop. Crazy chickens. Run around the yard and eat the bugs. I keep them in the coop at night. Never trust a predator.
I found this wonderful fire pit in our yard. I love it. I actually found it small.
I started taking it apart and found a ton of rocks under all that ash and wood with whatever else is in there.
So expand the fire pit, did I. lol. Anyway, getting all those rocks out from under was a chore, but it makes for a better looking fire pit.
The fire pit two days ago. You can see how many chairs we have around it. lol. We love sitting there at night. It is so peaceful.
We got some used paneling for the bird room. I really like it. We insulated that room as well. When we are finished unpacking and making these rooms looking like they should, I will take final pictures of them. I am really loving the house and what we are doing to each room.
The wall that wobbled in the bedroom had 2×4’s that were rotted. That meant replacing them. With that done, we insulated the wall, replaced the window, and now the room is cozy warm and no wobbly wall.
All this stuff was fixed before we purchased the home and was done before we moved in. It is now only needing flooring, paint and the rest of the inside repair. But it is so worth all we have had done to it before moving in. It was even debated if we should just not do it at all. But with just the minor stuff now left to us to do, I think it will be worth it.
